The former Derbi factory stands on a 16,000 m2 site and demolition works have already commenced.

Said David Alcázar, director general of Segro in Spain: 'The acquisition of this land responds to our sustainable growth strategy, within the framework of our Responsible Segro programme, which is based on the regeneration of disused or obsolete industrial plots and on the economic and social revitalisation of the areas in which we are present.

'Great examples, also in Martorelles, are the warehouse of the old New Pol washing machine factory and the facilities of the Manaut brand of heating and motorcycle components, which we bought respectively in 2015 and 2017.

'All our new development projects are based on our Green First philosophy, the objective of which is to prioritise sustainability, both in the construction of the building itself and during its useful life, guaranteeing energy efficiency and minimising environmental impact, and by generating value in the communities where we establish ourselves.'

With this acquisition Segro reinforces its presence in Catalonia, where it currently has a total of 422,700 m2 of space. This is spread across 189,700 m2 of built area and 233,000 m2 under development, in key locations with good connections to the city of Barcelona, the airport and the port from Barcelona, as well as with quick access to the roads of the two main logistics hubs: the Mediterranean and the Atlantic.
