Germany's leading retailer Metro could consider the sale of its Kaufhof department stores. Chairman Eckhard Cordes said on Tuesday at the presentation of the company's annual results that 'Galeria Kaufhof is a successful company, but it is not a strategic part of Metro Group'. The company added they will consider any options for the properties. 'Against this background, we are in a comfortable position to examine all our alternatives without any time pressure', Cordes said. The Kaufhof department stores consist of 1.5 million m[sup]2[/sup] across 141 locations, mostly in city centers.
