Helaba hires Germany real estate lending chief

German lender Helaba has hired Jan Peter Annecke as head of its real estate lending Germany division.

Annecke will be responsible for real estate lending in Berlin and Munich, and in the northwest and southwest regions, as well as heading the firm's real estate financing activities in Switzerland and Austria.

In his capacity as division head, he will report directly to managing director board member Christian Schmid.

'In appointing Dr Jan Peter Annecke, we have been fortunate to acquire a proven expert for Helaba who has many years of experience in lending and acquisitions,' said Schmid.

Annecke, who holds a PhD in economics, worked most recently for Münchener Hypothek-enbank eG, where he headed up the market division of Commercial Real Estate Finance.

Annecke started his almost 20-year career in financial services at Bayerische Hypo- und Ver-einsbank as a credit analyst in the central credit risk management division, joining Münchener Hypothekenbank eG in 2005 via other senior positions at Hypo Real Estate.

Annecke succeeds Michael Berger, who retired at the end of November.
