UK investment agency Harris Associates has appointed Alex Matthews as the firm's inaugural head of Build to Rent (BTR).
With eight years of experience in Build to Rent Capital Markets with previous roles at Savills and Colliers, Matthews directed funding and investment strategies, totalling more than £3 bn.
In his new role at Harris Associates, he will take the lead in securing funding, overseeing acquisitions, and strategically managing divestments within the BTR sector. His mission is to enhance the company's remarkable track record, which boasts a history of transactions exceeding £18 bn worldwide since its establishment in 2002.
Harris Associates is currently handling over £1.2 bn worth of UK disposal projects.
Under Matthews' leadership, Harris Associates will be continuing to spearhead strategies to attract foreign capital and foster international partnerships, particularly from Asian investors through Harris Associates strategic partnership with the 400-person agency Edmund Tie in Singapore (formerly owned by DTZ).
