Hanin named incoming CEO at Cofinimmo

Cofinimmo has announced that Jean-Pierre Hanin will become CEO of the Belgian REIT in May 2018. He replaces Jean-Edouard Carbonnelle who has decided not to seek a new term. 

On Thursday, as Cofinimmo unveiled its 2017 annual report, the board co-opted Hanin as director of the group. The proposal will be put to the general shareholders' meeting on 9 May this year and the board will then designate him as CEO and managing director. From 1 March until the shareholders' meeting in May, Hanin will act as special advisor to the chairman of the board of directors.

Hanin has a licentiate degree in Law from the Catholic University of Leuven (KUL). He also holds a Master in Tax Management from the Solvay Business School and a LL.M from Georgetown University.

He started his career as a business lawyer before joining various international groups where he took up financial and management positions, among which chief financial officer and CEO of Lhoist Group, a lime and dolime specialist. More recently, he was chief financial officer then manager of the building performance division of the construction materials group Etex. His functions led him to operate in various regions all over the world for over 20 years, and to carry out both consolidation and development activities.
