Property group Futureal has announced the start of construction for its Etele Plaza shopping centre next to the Kelenföld railway station in the western part of the Hungarian capital of Budapest.
The shopping and entertainment centre with a gross building area of 155,000 m2 will be the biggest of its kind on the Buda side of the city.
The mall will provide 54,000 m2 of gross lettable space across 200 shops and 1,300 parking spaces on opening in 2020. The centre will also feature a supermarket, restaurants, cafés, a multiplex cinema, a gym, and a children’s play centre.
The scheme is being built in the immediate vicinity of Futureal Group’s largest office development project, Budapest One Business Park. The first phase of the office complex encompasses more than 65,000 m2 of GLA.
'The construction of Budapest One and Etele Plaza will give a new momentum to the most important centre of South West Budapest. We paid particular attention to the requirements of sustainability and innovation while planning and designing the building, and Budapest’s first smart mall will be welcoming visitors with a customer experience never seen before,' said Tibor Tatár, CEO of Futureal.
