Cromwell selects new CFO Europe

Real estate investor and manager Cromwell Property Group has appointed Nigel Batters as chief financial officer (CFO), Europe, with effect from April 2020.

Based in Amsterdam, Batters will be responsible for Cromwell’s corporate finance operations across Europe.

Batters has an international background spanning more than 20 years in commercial finance and property, principally as a senior audit executive with Ernst & Young UK, where he worked with a number of large international companies such as Investec Plc, National Australia Bank (including Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks), Royal Bank of Scotland, ING Lease, Siemens Financial Services and Chicago Mercantile Exchange from 2004 to 2011, as well as a stint at ABN Amro.

He is a chartered accountant, registered company auditor and is currently the audit partner at the mid-tier Australian chartered accounting firm, Baker Tilly Pitcher Partners.

Commenting on the appointment, Michael Wilde, current CFO of Cromwell, said: 'Nigel is extremely familiar with the group’s finances and operations, having worked alongside Cromwell since 2013 when he became the lead engagement partner on the Group audit.'

'We look forward to Nigel joining us as we continue to implement our invest to manage strategy,' added Mark McLaughlin, managing director Europe at Cromwell.

'He joins at an exciting time for the European business following several acquisitions on behalf of a range of capital partners across Italy, France and Poland, as well as the refinancing of €625 mln of unsecured debt for CEREIT,' McLaughlin concluded.
