Stockholm-listed property company Kungsleden has acquired an office building under construction at the eye-catching Emporia shopping centre in the southern Swedish city of Malmö.
Kungsleden said that the transaction strengthened its presence in Hyllie, a growing area of Malmö, strategically located only a few minutes' drive from Malmö Central Station and with good connections to Kastrup Airport and Copenhagen city centre.
The offices have a total leasable area of 10,250 m2, which means that Kungsleden is expanding its cluster in Hyllie to a total leasable area of 50,000 m2. The cluster includes the newly constructed parking garage, located next to Malmö Mässan which Kungsleden took over in December 2016. The parking garage has almost 350 parking spaces and is leased by Malmö municipality parking company.
'The property is almost fully leased and we look forward to welcome tenants as Capgemini, Lantmäteriet, Peugeot and Atos Medical to us,' said Ylva Sarby Westman, deputy CEO and chief investment officer at Kungsleden.
Kungsleden is acquiring Emporia Office from Emporia's owner Steen & Ström, the Nordic subsidiary of Paris-listed European shopping centre landlord Klépierre. The investment volume for the office transaction has not been disclosed.
