German lender Berlin Hyp has revealed plans for its new corporate headquarters at the bank’s longstanding location, Budapester Strasse 1 in Berlin-Charlottenburg.
Set for completion in 2023, the sustainable asset is being designed by Danish architecture firm CF Møller Architects.
Berlin Hyp said the new headquarters would bring together all its Berlin-based employees, who up to now have been separated into two different buildings.
The project, named 'B-One' reflects both the idea of coming together under one roof and its Berlin address.
Demolition of the old building in Budapester Strasse will commence this year and deconstruction has already begun.
Sascha Klaus, chair of the board of management of Berlin Hyp, said: 'Berlin Hyp has its roots in Berlin. A building of great architectural value will be erected on the north-eastern side of Berlin City-West, which will make its new mark on the surrounding area.
'Attractive workstations and forward-thinking technologies are important goals which are also intended to strengthen the bank when it comes to the competition for young talent.'
The bank is seeking to achieve certification for the new corporate headquarters from the German Sustainable Building Council. The new headquarters will enable the bank to reduce its energy consumption by over 50% in comparison to the old building, in addition to significantly lowering operating costs.
The architecture of the new building will reduce CO2 emissions through the installation of photovoltaic systems on the entire façade and on part of the roof, among other methods. Around 500 workstations will be established on around 14,800 m2 of above-ground gross floor space, with the bank's employees being consulted on the layout.
'I am also convinced that the office represents the cultural core of any business. The office is the heart of social exchange and creative collaboration. This aspect will be reflected in our new building,' Klaus added.
