Goodman, the global logistics specialist, is to develop a 130,000 m2 fulfilment centre for online fashion retailer Zalando in Poland.
The fulfilment centre, located in Gryfino near Szczecin, will be one of the largest single occupier development projects in Poland, Goodman said. The new centre will be Zalando's first logistics hub in the CEE region and the fourth consecutive time Goodman has been selected as its real estate partner.
The new location, which will be operational in the autumn of 2017, will allow Zalando to expand its logistics and fulfilment network further eastward.
'Zalando already serves about 19 million customers all over Europe. To meet increasing demand and prepare for future growth, we plan to strengthen our European logistics network with a new fulfillment center in Gryfino. We are looking forward to once again work with Goodman to help execute this project,' said David Schröder, senior vice president operations for Zalando.
Over the years Goodman has emerged as the top developer for the ecommerce sector in Europe, by providing more than 1.5 million m2 to the industry since 2006 and 390,000 m2 for Zalando alone.
Last year, Goodman and Zalando announced the development of a 130,000 m2 logistics centre in Lahr, Germany, which will have nearly identical building specifications in the warehouse to the new fulfilment centre in Gryfino.
The partnership between Zalando and Goodman dates back to 2011 and comprises three logistics centres in Germany: Erfurt, Mönchengladbach and Lahr. Each of the centres comprises 130,000 m2. The addition of Gryfino will lift the total to 520,000 m2.
